ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Lynn

WHERE I COME FROM

Kitsap County is my home. Born in Bremerton in 1965, I grew up in Port Orchard and graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1983. In high school I had my first job as a legal assistant and continued working in that field through my studies at Olympic College (AS, 1985) and Western Washington University (BA in Psychology, 1988). After graduation I came home and went to work as a contract administrator and financial manager for a local defense contractor supporting the U.S. Navy. I graduated from Seattle University School of Law in 1999, going to school while I continued to work full-time. I have lived in Bremerton since 1995. Aside from running my legal practice, I also enjoy volunteering in my community and spending time with my dogs.

A THRIVING CAREER

My practice has always been located in Silverdale and over the years has encompassed all areas of general civil practice, most recently focusing in family law (including direct representation of clients and also serving as a Title 26 guardian ad litem), estate planning, and probate. I am in Superior Court frequently for motions practice, settlement conferences, and/or trials. I have served as a Pro Tempore Judge for Superior Court since 2015, and stand ready to bring over twenty years of broad legal experience to our Kitsap County Superior Court bench full-time.

COMMITMENT TO OUR COMMUNITY

In addition to my practice, I have been an active volunteer in our nonprofit community, having served on more than ten boards over the last 25 years. In addition to serving as President of the Kitsap County Bar Association in the last year, I have also contributed my time to the following organizations in an effort to build and strengthen our community:

  • Kitsap Immigrant Assistance Center (Director, 2017-Present)

  • Habitat for Humanity of Kitsap County (Director, Treasurer/Secretary, 2016-Present)

  • Kitsap County Bar Association (Trustee, Treasurer, President, 2014-Present)

  • Limited License Legal Technician Board (under supervision of Washington State Supreme Court (Director, 2013-2018)

  • Kitsap Humane Society (Director, 2004-2014; Emeritus Director, 2015-Present)

  • Olympic College Foundation (Director, 2003-2011; Emeritus Director, 2019-Present)

  • Kitsap Legal Services (Director, 2004-2011)

  • Washington Women Lawyers, Kitsap Chapter (Director/Treasurer, 2002-Present)

  • Dispute Resolution Center of Kitsap County (Director, Board President, 2000-2004)

  • Leadership Kitsap (Graduate and Project Chair, 1996)

  • YWCA of Kitsap County (Director, 1990s)

WHY I'M RUNNING

I have been fortunate in my career to be able to work as a contractor in support of the U.S. Navy, a local attorney, and a volunteer in our community. Being a lawyer, and some day a judge, has been a lifelong dream, growing up just around the corner from the courthouse. I had to approach that goal in steps, as many people do, and am happy to be able to look back at the past 20 years of practice and celebrate that accomplishment for what it is.

I hope to use the decision-making and management skills I have developed as both an attorney and community volunteer as your next Superior Court Judge. I offer the ability to focus on relevant issues without distraction, to manage the courtroom and marshal the court’s resources efficiently, and to make fair and reasoned decisions with the judgment skills I have cultivated over many years of experience. Everyone before me will have their opportunity to be heard and be treated equally under the law. I look forward to talking with you more about this as we meet on the campaign trail.
